Sunday, July 3, 1955

The meeting of the Ninth Brackbill Reunion held Sunday July 3, 1955 in the Paradise Community Park was opened by singing "Faith of Our Fathers". The devotions were in charge of Enos Zimmerman.

The president, Christ Brackbill, was in charge of the meeting and the welcome was given by Rev. Moses Brackbill who brought to our attention that members of the Brackbill Family have settled in many areas of our country.

We were entertained with special music by the male chorus of the Leacock Presbyterian Church.

The Historical report by Martin Brackbill, who gave us the history of Benedictus Brackbill and pointed out that his reason for coming to this country was religious freedom.

Benjamin R. Brackbill was in charge of a memorial service for the following: Enos Brackbill, Mrs. Charles Seachrist, Miss Bertha M. Herr, and Clayton Brackbill.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary and approved as read.

The treasurer's report was given by Hebron Brackbill. and an offering taken.

The new officers which were nominated by the committee and duly elected are as follows:

  • President - Rev. Moses Brackbill
  • Vice-President - Lee Brown
  • Rec. Sec. - Doris Brown
  • Corres. Sec. - Martin Brackbill
  • Treasurer - Walter R. Denlinger
  • Historian - Martin Brackbill Jr.

Herman Brackbill awarded prizes to the following: the youngest, Eileen Brown, the oldest -- Benjamin Kurtz, the next oldest -- Mrs. Martin Brackbill, and to the person who had traveled the greatest distance, Mrs. Warren Metzler.

The speaker of the day was Charles Passmore who gave us many interesting and humorous facts and reminiscences of Lancaster County.

There were 80 persons registered.

The meeting was adjourned by singing "Blest Be the Tide That Binds". Most of the group remained to eat their picnic lunches and to fellowship together.
